Trips further afield

If sightseeing is your thing we can suggest three excursions which are further afield but worthwhile, particularly if you are staying with us more than one week.

Tavira is an ancient town about 30km east of Faro and it boasts a Roman bridge which spans the river that divides the town. Not at all touristy its a great day out and you can eat like the locals do at the many open air restaurants and bars.

300km north of Lagos lies Portugal's capital city of Lisbon. A spectacular city by any standards it can be easily reached by road using the modern motorway network and it will take around 2.5 to 3 hours to make the journey.

There are many open top bus tours available in this historic and beautiful city and the trip can be completed in one day or even better take an overnight stay to get the full benefit of the city. We can recommend a modern boutique hotel in the city centre;

Rates are normally under 100 Euros for a double room with excellent breakfast.

The other city trip we can recommend is driving to Sevilla in Spain which is located in the south west of the country and again accessible with a direct motorway from Lagos to Sevilla. Once again its a 2 to 3 hour drive from Lagos.

A historic city with so many things to see that we would recommend an overnight stop to fully appreciate the city. There are excellent guide books in the apartment covering Lisbon and Sevilla which lists all the main things to see and do as well as reasonably priced overnight hotels.
