The Algarve boasts some of the best beaches in Europe and there are over ten in the Lagos area. Most beaches are supervised by lifeguards and there are plenty of good, reasonably priced beach restaurants and bars so you don't need to wander far.

There is a map in the apartment showing the locations of all the good local beaches and how to get there.

For kids big and small there is a fabulous water park called Slide and Splash located at Lagoa, 20 minutes drive away from the apartment.

There is no prettier and more interesting town in the Algarve than that of Lagos which is 5 minutes drive away from the apartment. Once a traditional and small fishing village it now boasts a marina to rival most in Europe and some of the best restaurants in the region.

Dolphin spotting is a popular excursion for young and old and guided boat tours leave the Marina frequently during the summer months.

Local shops specialise in quality leatherwear and you are never more than 100 meters from a sidewalk cafe or bar for refreshments. Fish is still landed daily at the Lagos market so you can be assured of great seafood whether in a restaurant or cooking back in your apartment and eating on the terrace.

Other towns worth a trip are Portimao, Sagres and especially Praia da Luz. One of our favorites is the 30 minute drive into the mountains where you will find the lovely village of Monchique with spectacular views.
